Who is Bluegrass Blogger? Where does she come from? What does she do? Why should I care?
Okay, I can’t really answer that last question for you (although I hope you eventually care about me because I care about you!)
I can, however, tell you a little more about me.
Hi, I’m Christine! I live in Kentucky (USA). I’m the eldest of four siblings. I started this blog so I can talk frankly about my anxiety, how I manage it, and so I can connect with others who may be dealing with similar things.
My husband, Robbie, and I have been married for eight years.
Robbie and I met while he was at my mother’s house fixing her computer. I know it sounds crazy…but as soon as he walked in the door I thought, “I’m going to marry that man.”
I wouldn’t believe it either if it hadn’t happened to me.
We talked casually while he worked. I mentioned that I was visiting a friend in a neighboring town that weekend and I wanted to explore a nearby forest while I was there.
He told me that he lived close to the forest and said that I should call him if I’d like somebody to show me around.
I thought for sure he was asking me out. He claims that he was just being friendly and never thought I’d call.
Well, I did call him that weekend and we wound up spending an entire day together. We kept finding things to do so the day didn’t have to end.
I have two children: Noah, 6, and Emily, 3.
Noah has a thirst for learning. He has a tendency to be a little smarty pants because he’s convinced he has life figured out. He loves music and will often sing and dance. His imagination is quite active and he’s an impressive storyteller.
Space is an obsession of Noah’s. The amount of trivia he’s learned blows me away! One of his favorite books is the Children’s Encyclopedia of Space*. Seriously. It’s his bedtime “story” almost every night.
Emily is a strong willed, yet devastatingly sweet girl. Her voice sounds like a little bell, all delicate and light. Her attitude, however, is anything but delicate! She will not be easily pushed around.
Emily can also be very shy in new social situations. She has a great sense of humor and she is very playful. Disney princesses are her current passion. Playing dress up is a daily activity! Her favorite princess changes often, but Cinderella and Rapunzel seem to have a special place in her heart.
I have worked at a non-profit organization for 14 years! My primary role is that of bookkeeper but, as with any non-profit, I wear many hats.
My company hired me at the age of 14 (days shy of my 15th birthday.) I was only meant to be a short-term intern, but I ended up working throughout the rest of my high school years.
I received a permanent position upon graduating.
On my own time I had an interest in web development, specifically in front-end coding with HTML & CSS.
I kept online journals for years and I enjoyed customizing how they looked and helping others customize their journals (aka “blogs”).
Eventually I discovered WordPress, which opened my eyes to a whole new world of web development. I setup my own blog and proceeded to take several online courses to help me learn how to combine my coding skills with the WordPress CMS.
My husband owns a computer repair business and over the course of 10 years he grew his business so much that he needed additional help.
I began working with him part-time, managing his bookkeeping and administrative duties, handling marketing and networking efforts, and most eagerly…building websites.
I love getting lost in TV shows and books. Harry Potter, Game of Thrones, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer are my favorite series. I’m also one of those adults who is weirdly obsessed with Disney. Yes, I am a total nerd.
History has always been a keen interest of mine. I enjoy reading biographies, watching documentaries and learning the stories behind the places I visit and the people I meet.
Volunteering and joining various groups and organizations that get me involved in my community is another way I spend my time. I like making connections with people!
